The research is characterized as descriptive and quantitative, in which the sample is intentional, since it verifies the implementation process of the aforementioned service. The data collection was done through a questionnaire, where in the literature the products and services offered by university libraries appear as an attempt to facilitate access to the large volume of information available in electronic media. The results indicate that, because it is a high-cost service, the discovery service advances timidly through university libraries. The librarian is instrumental in observing technological advances and providing users with services that assist him beyond the library's collection.
