Since its appearance, the importance of the cultural center in the social context, where this equipment works promoting cultural diversity, interrelationships and knowledge. The research presented here started from the study of the relations that are established between the observer and the space, with an outline in the historic center of Goiás, where most of the city's cultural facilities are located. It was found that these equipments can, besides the cultural insertion of the community, promote the image that the community has of the space, endowing them with meanings, generating topophilia and identity. Based on the surveys acquired through the research, it is proposed to set up a cultural center in the peripheral region of the city, so that it meets the demands of the region, lacking equipment that promotes culture, inter-relationship and knowledge, so that in the future it will be able to transform the image that the local community has of space, as it was found to have occurred in the historic center of Goiás.porAcesso AbertoCulturaCentro culturalTopofiliaIdentidadeCultureCultural centerTopophiliaIdentityTCC
