This article goal is to show its expressiveness in the field of teaching research of Geography in Brazil. In the last three decades, several studies have pointed to the expansion and consolidation of this field of research, qualifying and legitimizing it as a relevant field for the area.In this context, LEPEG was created. A reference place that has been dedicated to the initial and continuing teachers' training, to research on different topics in the Geography's teaching and to extension of its activities to society. It's always guided by the principles of collective and critical-collaborative work, also by the integration between theory and practice, for the effective and systematic articulation between the University and the Basic Education schools.
