The teaching experience was developed with students from the fifth year of elementary school, in a center of teaching and research linked to Universidade Federal de Goiás (Federal University of Goiás), UFG, and was based on the teaching of plane geometry. The objective of the pedagogical proposal was to relate the interest in cartoon, noticed during the class observation period, with the need to learn the geometrical knowledge. In order to do it, we created a story called "A LENDA DE NARUPRISMATO" (The legend of Naruprismato), based on the development of guidelines for teaching activities. In this story the students had the opportunity to experience an imaginary world, experiencing the challenges related to the characters, which were linked to mathematical concepts such as symmetry, angles and others. The main results are related to student learning in basic education, as well as the initial training of mathematics teachers. With regard to students, the study allowed an increase in the level of participation, that is, they felt motivated to learn. The story and the ludic activities as teaching proposal are resources that, together, allow a different mathematical approach, leading students to show interest in the content taught.
