Decades after his death, when his works entered the Brazilian literary canon, two of his novels took part in the French editorial market through daily press and adventure’s collection books. Les aventuriers ou le Guarani was published in the newspaper Les Droits de l’Homme in 1899 and as a book in 1902, with a new title: Le fils du soleil. Another book, called Iracema: conte brésilien, appeared in the newspaper L’Action Républicaine in 1907, but its release in book had to wait many years to be seen. This article proposes to identify the initiatives to translate Alencar’s works between 1863 and 1907 as well as to investigate the manners of circulation and receptions of translations of O Guarani and Iracema in France.porAcesso AbertoTraduçãoRecepçãoRomanceJosé de AlencarSéculo XIXTranslationReceptionNovel19th centuryA presença das obras de José de Alencar na França (1863-1907)The presence of José de Alencar’s works in France (1863-1907)Artigohttps://doi.org/10.4025/actascilangcult.v41i1.41666
