First, to present theoretical aspects of Ecological Discourse Analysis (EDA). Second, to develop methodological steps to this theory. The EDA which is presented here is part of the ecosystemic linguistic theory that is the main ecolinguistic approach practiced in Brazil that differs from other ecological approaches to linguistic studies. Regarding the EDA theoretical aspects, we present its linguistic, philosophical and ecological foundations, and also which are the similarities and divergences between EDA and other discourse theories. Regarding EDA methodological procedures, we propose an outline with distinct phases in which are pointed out some characteristics of data collection, analysis and interpretation, based on the methodology of Ecolinguistics, Descriptive Linguistics and Critical Discourse Analysis. Finally, we discuss the ongoing EDA researches and the perspectives to future investigations in this area, we also present the EDA contributions to Linguistics, Discourse Studies and Ecolinguistics.
