Neither can they be judged by a unilateral meaning. It is essential to study their ways of constructing themselves and get, through this, to understanding the way we represent the elements of our time. This assignment searches for that, by investigating the means which intend to promote identification between the plot of the movie Synecdoche, New York, by Charlie Kaufman, and the concept of post-modernity. The process of analysis is started by briefly putting into concept the possibilities of analyzing image. Further, it is conducted to the main ideas concerning post-modernity, its crisis, intersections and cultural perspective. Through that, an analysis is made, concerning elements in which post-modern condition is exposed by Kaufman. The other movies by Kaufman make clear how he is concerned in understanding the cinema as a space of self reflection. Last, we get to a point in which the film-maker uses his work to reconstruct some of the main human traumas. It also makes clear the need for a deeper analytical position. Being the result of subject, Synecdoche, New York does not have its end with casting and techniques.
