The objective was to understand how sensationalism occurred, mainly through the use of clichés, adjectives, dramatizations and self-re-beliefs, after all, given the fundamentals of journalism and journalism itself, could Cidade Alerta be considered a television news? The theoretical reference dialogues with researchers who investigate journalism, television language and police journalism. From a qualitative approach, the study used Content Analysis as a method and the Bibliographic Survey and the Documentary Research as instruments of data collection and treatment.
