Material and Me- thods: For the experiment the following antibiotics were used: amoxicillin+clavulanic acid; amoxicillin; azithromycin, cephale- xin, ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, clindamycin, penicillin G, oxa- cillin and vancomycin. Twenty Petri plates with 20 mL of BHIA inoculated with 0.1 mL of bacterial infusion were sowed by steri- lized swabs. A hundred antibiotic discs were placed on BHIA pla- tes (n=10, for each group). The plates were maintained for 1 hour at room temperature and then incubated at 37oC for 48 hours. After that, the diameters of bacterial inhibition were measured, indi- cating the efficacy or not efficacy of the antibiotics, with the use of a digital caliper. Results: Among the products tested, the oxacillin did not promote inhibition zone only for E. faecalis. The amoxy- cillin associated with clavulanic acid, amoxicillin and penicillin G showed activity mainly against S. aureus. Conclusion: The most antimicrobial agents evaluated demonstrated effectiveness on microbial indicators, with average values of the inhibition zone between 15 and 35 millimeters, except oxacillin for the E. faecalis.porAcesso AbertoInfecção endodônticaAtividade antimicrobianaE. faecalisS. aureusEndodontic infectionAntimicrobial activityEnterococcus faecalisStaphylococcus aureusSuscetibilidade do E. faecalis e S.aureus a vários antimicrobianosAntibiotic susceptibility of Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureusArtigo
