Considering the hashtag, present on social networks, and its important role for online data categorization, easing search for information on this environment. The research is based on how users attribute hashtags to images on Instagram. Methodologically, the descriptive investigation had the questionnaire as data gathering instrument. It is concluded that the hashtag is recognized by the Instagram users that compounded the sample, as a way of information recovery at the social network.
