Through bibliographic research within the legislation that regulates the Brazilian electric sector, the understanding of the evolution of the generation, transmission and distribution of electric energy was consolidated. Associated with this research, one can understand how the electricity bill delivered to the consumer is calculated. The understanding of the legislation and the calculation of the invoices issued by the electric power distributor subsidized the analysis, using a computational Business Intelligence tool, allowing the migration from the regulated contracting environment to the free contracting environment.
