Although São Paulo is still the main national producer, there has been a significant growth toward the Cerrado biome, particularly towards the state of Goias, due to the availability of land, adequate infrastructure, but also public funding and restrictions of the agroecological zoning of sugarcane to other regions. Tracking the expansion of sugarcane in the Cerrado biome, this study tries to deal with relationships between such growth and food production. Taking official data from IBGE’s, INPE’s and CONAB’s annual surveys it studies the relations to the dynamics of other crops, especially rice, corn and beans production in Goiás.porAcesso AbertoCana de açúcarProdução de alimentosFinanciamento públicoSegurança alimentarCerradoSugarcanePublic financingFood productionCerradoFood securityFood sovereigntyCana de açúcar, financiamento público e produção de alimentos no cerradoSugarcane, public financing and food production in the cerradoArtigo
