They were stabled in individual stalls, receiving daily chopped forage "ad libtum" and one Kilograrn of balanced maintainance ration. The animals were dosed with carbon tetrachloride diluted at 50 % in corn oi!, each animal from I to V respectiv! ly receiving a dose (ml/p/lw): O.l; 0.3; 0.5; 0.7 and 0.9. The carbon tetrachloride was administred by intraruminal puncture in the left flank. The duration of the trial was 61 days. Fifty bl2 od samples were collected from the jugular vein.
