Resumo
This work presents the trajectory traveled by cataloging since its beginnings, passing by the code AACR2 ( Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules 2ed ) until the beginning of the 21st century with the standard RDA (Resource Description and Access), dealing with its objectives, its new structure, based on model entities FRBR and the similarities with the AACR2. The new RDA standard has been developed to meet the demands generated in a context that presents new opportunities to access, view and use of information, introduced by the evolution of information and communication technologies. For this reason, it is considered that the need for integration between the practice librarians and new technologies for that as well, that meets the needs of information retrieval in actuality.
