Resumo
The research was aimed at determining the profile of the Professional Librarian in the states of Brazil, there was a breakdown by regions. Through the study of literature and documentary work related to the topic, the search was electronically scientific papers in the area of Library and Information Science, books, the Library Councils, the websites of the Federal Universities of library schools to identify the educational profile of each school, seeking to identify the new profile of the library before the new skills required by the labor market. Also, their new activities, attitudes, skills and abilities that comes with getting the changes occurring in the informational society (user / customer) and the use of new technologies (information). The research methodology is qualitative ranked after the data analysis was the description of the construction of hypotheses and theory, basic to obtaining new knowledge, exploratory data analysis for real and familiar with the problem, descriptive studies and the professional librarian standardized technique for data collection through bibliographic and documentary. The survey results show a literature extolled the new information technologies and communication, but when the results of the surveys directly to a group of participants the reality is different because it depends on a number of factors such as lack of financial resources, domain technology or lack of interest in supporting institution to finance the unit of information. The survey can be seen in the analysis of the documents that the librarian does not acquire all the knowledge to act in the labor market courses in librarianship, but his skills are constructed in schools, and when it acquired the professional looking for continuing education.
