Resumo

Relative importance of comrnunication cha􀀱 nels in the knowledge, Persuasion and Decision stages of the Innovation - Decision Process and some characteris- tics related to· communication behaviors of the cotton pl<i!!. ters in the Triangle Region of Minas Gerais state were 􀀵 nalized in this study. The conceptual model'· adopted was derived from I«1GERS and SHOEMAKER's model of individual adoption (1971). The survey method was used to obtain the date through pre-tested questionarie. One hundred and fif ty five producers were interviewed. When using table analysis, the etudy revealed that change agents were the channel most used in the knowledge, Persuation and Decision stages of the Innovation - Decision Process. In second place were used the peers in the Knowledge stage and the "Self11 channel in the Persu2, sion and Decision stages. The cotton Planters have greater exposure􀁌to electronic mass media (Rádio and TV}, but not at printed mas media. The mass media have not utiltzed by change agents
