Resumo

The mite Polyghagotarsonemus lalus (Banks, 1904) is known as an irnportant pest of cotton plant in many regions in BraziJ. ln order to determine the efficiency of the acaracide pyridathioben to control the tropical mite, a field experirnent, was carried out in Santa Helena, State of Goiás, BraziL The treatments and dosage of the produts per hectare were: pyridathioben (1,7 !; 2,5 1 and 3,4), omite (1,5 1) and cascade (0,6 !). Evaluations were rnade at 3, 8, 14 and 24 days after tre.atment sampling 5 leaves with symptons in each repetition and counting number of mites found at an area of O. 7 cm2. Toe results showed that pyridatioben was the best acaricide showing a control efficiencyr about 90%, at sn&aller dosage, until 24 days after treatment applicatioos.
