Resumo

In this article we are going to analyse some feminine character’s actions represented in the Apuleian narrative Metamorphosis (known also as The Golden Ass). We aim to understand the censorship that Apuleio carries out regarding feminine actions because they affect the marriage institution, especially the practice of magic used by the character Panfilia, who causes fear in the city and uses her knowledge to practice adultery. More than that, Apuleio wants to criticize the masculine actions which allow the deviant women’s role, for those actions disintegrate this institution which is fundamental for Roman’s life: the matrimony.
