Resumo
The objective of this study was to determine the hydrological characteristics and erosivity of
rainfalls in Viçosa, MG from 1982 to 2001. For each erosive rainfall the time, rainfall
accumulated, and the processed data was entered in a spreadsheet, where the EI30 index, the
total monthly and annually, and the pattern of the erosive rainfall were calculated. Rainfall
graphics of intensity, duration, and frequency were made. Annual erosive index of Viçosa is
7.601 MJ mm ha -1 h -1 ("R" Factor USLE). The rainfall advanced pattern presented great
results to all parameters analyzed, followed in descending order by the rainfall intermediate
and rainfall late. The rainfall advanced corresponded to 60% of the total rainfall analyzed, the
rainfall intermediate with 24% and 16% to rainfall late.
