Resumo
In this article, through a qualitative survey based upon a bibliographical research,
the inter-relations between literature and still photography are examined, with
the intention to discuss the main aspects of homology which can be verified
between these two artistic forms, apparently so different from one another.
Based on Susan Sontag’s (2004) statement that photography is closer to poetry
than to any other art, it will be investigated the historical and aesthetic
developments which allow such a relation, focusing the analysis in the literary
production of the Portuguese poet Cesário Verde (1855-1886).
