Resumo
The process of globalization has brought significant changes to the contemporary world, determining a new professional profile for the post modern society, which must above all, be innovative to keep up with the changes in the new information age. And the aim of this scientific research work is to analyze the academic education of the professional librarian, offered by the Federal University of Goiás, and compare the skills and abilities of the graduates and newly graduates of this Course, with the current requirements of the job market in this professional area, to contribute to them and point out the necessary skills and abilities, so that they can achieve success in your chosen career, but also contribute to companies, presenting them with the possible shortcomings in the practice of librarians in the effective exercise of their profession. The methodological approach was bibliographic research and field survey, The instrument of data collection was a questionnaire and data analysis were performed using qualitative approaches, the survey was conducted with librarian and companies of this area. The result shows that the profile required for this professional to stay on the market, is to be innovative, to master the technological tools and teamwork, be creative and master technical knowledge in the information dissemination process.
