Resumo

The microstructures of some materials are manipulated by adding new constituents in order to improve their properties. Thus, it has been a constant concern in these studies the introduction of representative models of the behaviour of the material, so that the overall behaviour of the structure can be represented in a more precise and lower computational cost. This work presents a systematic review of studies that have investigated advantages and disadvantages in developing numerical models through the methods of contour elements (BEM) in relation to using finite element methods (FEM and/or BEM/FEM coupling in non-linear analysis of plates composed by heterogeneous materials through a multiscale approach using representative Volume elements (RVE). The research sources were the following indexed databases: The Portal of periodicals for the coordination of improvement of staff of higher level (CAPES), Scopus, Conpemdex and Science Direct. It is important to highlight that the application of systematic mapping in the elaboration of bibliographical revision has allowed to identify the main gaps for the development of new research, in addition, directs to the major publications related to the study. Finally, the results obtained provide, on the one hand, subsidies for multiscale formulation only through BEM and, in addition, they demonstrate the results compared to those obtained through the analysis where the MEC/MEF coupling is made in order to verify the numerical results and indicate the advantages and disadvantages of the two types of modeling.
