Resumo
This article aims to present the sociolinguistic situation of the Akwẽ people,
to discuss the situation of the linguistic contact that exists between this
language and Portuguese and, in this way, to contribute to the vitalisation
of that language and culture. Thus, I believe that the results presented
here may lead the community to reflect on the value of their language
and customs, guaranteeing the sustainability of their knowledge. So, the
purpose of this article is, besides presenting the sociolinguistic situation
of the Akwẽ people, propose actions that contribute to the linguistic
sustainability of these people.
