Resumo

This paper discusses issues that are faced in building practice of the Museu do Alto Sertão da Bahia - MASB. On the one hand, this experience is marked by inspirations that come from movements and trends such as Sociomuseology, posing in the background aspects of institutionalization of museums, the constitution of collections and other demands of traditional museums, emphasizing the triad territory – heritage – society. On the other hand, the archaeological heritage, belonging to the National Heritage in Brazil, brings specific challenges. The public commitment to archaeological heritage requires safeguarding for future generations, limiting the discourse of a "museum fluidity" advocated by Sociomuseology and their counterparts, where the museum, created around community issues, can be dismantled when such problems are overcome. The reflection on the insertion of Tourism in this complexity is especially exciting and challenging, since the Cultural Tourism practices have been repeatedly articulated to the processes identified with Sociomuseology, as we noted increasing efforts of the traditional museums of Archaeology in inserting in tourist circuits. At MASB, the relationship between museum, tourism and archeology has benefited this hybrid model, focusing on the motivation – interpretation – intervention triad, and questioning the concepts of environment, natural heritage and cultural heritage.
