Resumo
The aim of this paper is to examine the representation of the other, particularly minority groups, which,
more than anything else, depends on the social, political, ideological and subjective position that speaks,
means and is made evident in the novel. Therefore, we must question who speaks what and where, as well
as how such representation takes place. These are some of the issues that oriented us in our analysis on
the representation and the legitimation of the other’s discourse in A hora da estrela.
