Resumo
The purpose of this study was to realize a critical analysis of the movie Miracle Season (2018) from Sean Mcnamara extracting the social relations inside and outside the movie to understand how volleyball is portrayed in cinema. The Tela Crítica methodology, used in this study for a sociological analysis of a film, was proposed by Alves (2010) for a wider and more critical analysis of the social issues inherent to the film. The work was divided into six parts: introduction; methodology; sport-cinema relation; survey of volleyball movies; critical analysis of the movie Miracle Season and final considerations. Volleyball was our main theme for the choice of the movie and the analysis for having it’s own socio-historical issues that characterize it as a sociocultural manifestation of the present time. We conclude from the critical analysis of the chosen movie, that it was possible to observe not only what the director put in scenes, but also stories and social relations beyond them, understood through a wide and precise search of documents.
