Resumo
This article discusses the role of public and language policy planning for Secondary
Education as an intermediate level of access to higher education. It proposes to discuss how
the language policies set out in official documents such as the Laws and Basic Guidelines for
National Education (LDB), the National Curriculum Parameters (NCP), and others, have
been incorporated into the curriculum projects of Brazilian public schools and how this
incorporation has influenced student results in large-scale assessment systems.
