Resumo

This paper analyses the relationship between the Internet and social movements to understand better how this work in social media. Assuming that the media has an irrefutable role in contemporary society (based on the principle that can lead and even influence in certain relations of individuals with the world), this work aims to understand better the relationship between media and social movements, seeking to clarify the link between the Internet and social movements, if the perception of violence in the movements is negative or positive, and if the term 'social movement' have been used correctly by journalists and in the discourse of protesters, taking into account the case chosen for this study. As part of a union of content that is already complex, research on social movements can and should diversify to get as close as possible to a deeper understanding. So that involves numerous issues, conflicts and theories from various fields. Is important to note that each new project there is also a new observation and conclusion in accordance with the line of proposed work. In this case the focus is therefore the ratio of movements with new media (web) and social networks that form around the posts and, in some cases, are face to face. Analyses were made from threads of the page of newspaper Folha de São Paulo on Facebook, related to the event ‘is not just for 20 cents’ and posted on June of the same year, a time of intensification of such events.
