Resumo
In the present research, we sought to elucidate the notion of experience developed by Maurice
Merleau-Ponty and its ramifications to education. For such a task we explored his
philosophical substantiations, by proposing a review of some terms, concepts and categories
which the philosopher uses, approaching, most of all, his work “Phenomenology of
Perception”. The comprehension of the merleau-pontian philosophy and the movement of his
entire thought, especially with the notion of experience, greatly contribute for us to think and
to comprehend our educational reality. We also think that the relation between art and
philosophy, which is present in this philosopher’s thinking, can be extended to education. The
intention of such a relation is actualized due, especially, to the notion of experience which
reveals itself through the philosopher’s work as being a new ontology and it culminates in the
possibility of reviewing the conceptions of man and world, both present in the context of
education. Finally, the intention was to demonstrate a singular contribution from the
philosophy, the thinking and the works of Merleau-Ponty in order of thinking the sense of
education for our days.
