Resumo
This thesis is the result of a research carried out within the scope of the Doctoral Degree in
Education, of the Graduate Program of the Faculty of Education of the Federal University of
Goiás, in the line of research: Education, Work and Social Movements, with the purpose of
elucidating the the role of education in peasant reproduction, through the analysis of the
educational practices offered by the different agents and institutions that deal with the
peasantry in the Jataian agrarian field. The theoretical basis is the Sociology of Practice of
Pierre Bourdieu and the development took place through theoretical research (bibliographical
research, consultation of books, magazines, articles), documentary research (projects,
reports, magazines, reports, , statistical archives, among other sources), and also by means
of immersion in the field, addressing the agents and institutions delimited and the traditional
peasantry and settlements of the municipality of Jataí. From the research carried out, it was
identified that education plays a central role in the social reproduction process of the
peasantry and directly interferes in the (re) capitalization or decapitalization of this social
segment within the agrarian field, since it interferes mainly in the production, distribution and
marketing of their products and family income, which is largely responsible for maintaining
the peasantry in the countryside and on the land.
