Resumo
Inserted in the research line Foundations of Educational Processes, this study’s theme is the
relation between school pedagogic work and resistance to capital. It also assumes that relationships
are not left to chance and that historical determinations are permeated by contradictions and forces
that move constantly, whether for maintenance or transformation of society. It aims to understand
how pedagogic work in public schools can be developed as a form of resistance to capitalist mode
of production. Therefore, we developed a research of qualitative nature, conducted through a
bibliographical survey on the digital platform of the Brazilian Institute of Information on Science
and Technology (IBICT), specifically in the digital library of theses and dissertations (BDTD),
along with theses and dissertations of graduate programs in Education in Brazilian universities,
considering the scientific productions defended and published from 2006 to 2016. Shortly, the
purpose of this study was to understand the nature of school pedagogic work and the possibilities
of a resistance movement to the mode of capitalist production in the public school. The educational
references that guided the theoretical discussions were, among others, Frigotto (1996), Lopes
(2008), Marx2004, 2010, 2013), Mészáros (2007), Paro (1993, 2014) and Saviani (2012). The
connection between the information seized in the thirteen selected productions in the bibliographic
research and the literature on the subject enabled a synthesis on educational work and forms of
resistance in the Brazilian public school. As a result, it was possible to understand that, based on
work as the production of human existence, social relations must be the point of exit and arrival of
pedagogic work. In this sense, pedagogic work should involve the pedagogical and political
organization of school environments, although the movement contrary to capitalist mode of
production and in defense of the working class is and will continue to be a challenge for the
teachers and Education professionals committed to social transformation.
