Detecção de dimensões de bagagens aeroportuárias a partir de dispositivos de baixo custo
(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2023-12-20) Silva, Vitor de Almeida; Bandeira, Michelle Carvalho Galvão da Silva Pinto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8988187129672006; Roriz Junior, Marcos Paulino; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1356289387726731; Roriz Junior, Marcos Paulino; Rabelo, Diogo de Souza; Guterres, Marcelo Xavier
Recent studies indicate a significant increase in passenger boarding times, ranging from 22 to 40 minutes between 1990 and 2009. One contributing factor to this delay is the check-in process, primarily stemming from baggage dimension verification. Incorrect dimensions not only impact luggage storage but also result in additional costs for the customer. In such cases, passengers may be required to pay extra fees and return to the check-in line for corrections. To address this issue, companies are investing in self-bag drop systems, where passengers take responsibility for measuring their baggage. However, challenges arise due to the varied shapes of luggage and the complexities of handling multiple checked items. This study reveals that certain devices, particularly those utilizing LASER technology, can automatically obtain baggage dimensions. Despite their effectiveness, these devices often come with a significant price, and may require adjustments to the environment for installation. Consequently, this research aims to explore the technical feasibility of employing low-cost devices to measure airport luggage dimensions. Among the low-cost techniques, the use of the Microsoft Kinect depth sensor stands out, capable of obtaining a point cloud of the object under analysis. Based on this sensor, an algorithm was developed to capture, assemble and analyse the point cloud generated, thus obtaining the size of the luggage. To validate the approach, a prototype was built that contains a mat and a structure to fix the sensor, allowing the configuration of speed and data capture parameters, such as sampling step and capture region. The conducted tests indicate that the Microsoft Kinect V2 depth sensor can accurately capture depth, width, and height data. These results indicate the potential of this low-cost alternative in streamlining airline boarding operations.

The increasing pursuit of ISO 9001:2015 certification by organizations, through the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS), reflects the aim of securing a competitive advantage in the market by maintaining high standards of quality in processes and projects. However, obtaining certification requires organizations to embrace risk-based thinking, which is linked to their cultural aspects. Risk-based thinking during project and operational execution should naturally and intrinsically be part of organizational routines. Nevertheless, there are challenges to this implementation, such as a lack of knowledge about risk management and the difficulty in making the routine of risk-based thinking tangible or evident for certification audits. Therefore, this study aims to present the development and application of a risk management framework to introduce risk-based thinking in organizations, following an agile and assertive approach. The action research method was implemented, following a flowchart that encompasses planning, data collection, analysis, implementation of actions, and evaluation of results. The framework was developed based on an understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in risk management and governance. It was applied in two real projects: "Project ABC" involving the importation and launch of a medical device, and "Project CQ Software", dedicated to the implementation of software within 90 business days. The implementation of the framework allowed the organization to optimize processes for identifying, analyzing, and responding to imminent risks. In "Project ABC", the model's application enabled the company to revise the pricing method for the equipment, creating opportunities for project gains. In "Project CQ Software", the quantitative analysis of the schedule demonstrated the feasibility of applying the PERT method for project schedule forecasting. In summary, the model proved to be applicable, becoming a driver for improvements in the risk management processes of the organization under study.

In Brazil, changes in production processes are observed due to environmental and social factors, which have as their biggest consequence the increase in the generation of solid waste. Because of these changes, it is essential to improve the efficiency of solid waste treatment processes, Thus, this work seeks to compare in laboratory tests the wear resistance of the cutting blades used in a solid waste crusher in the city of Aparecida de Goiânia, after application of different materials that can be used in the manufacture of the component, since the main problem presented was the loss in productivity in the treatment of waste due to wear of components of the crusher. After collecting a sample of cutting blade was identified through the study of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with Secondary Electrons (SE) and Backscattered Electrons (ERE), and also with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) that the type of wear preponderant in the tribological pair is the abrasive. From this premise, the laboratory experiment chosen was the rubber wheel wear test, because it is the method that best fits the system wear mechanisms, the same validated according to ASTM G-65. For the rubber wheel wear test were performed using samples of SAE 1060 steel and SAE 410 stainless steel heat treated. The studies demonstrated that it is not feasible to change the material used in the manufacture of the component, since the wear rates of the SAE 410D stainless steel samples were 55% higher than that of the samples that reproduce the condition of the cutting blade. This analysis is not limited only to one field, and can be extended to other sectors, using tribology as a reference, seeking to contribute to the academic production of production engineering, improving solid waste treatment operations.

This research addresses the challenge that governance and management represent for public organizations, specifically an undergraduate course at a public university, and the need for tools that help in the task of analyzing, relating and interpreting information, minimizing risks and presenting important findings on how enterprises generate value for their stakeholders. The research proposes the structuring of an Integrated Value Report for an undergraduate course at a public university in the state of Goiás. It seeks to build the basis of the model, with a literature review on the CDIO Initiative, Management System with Agile SD as a control architecture approach and Integrated Reporting, seeking to determine the necessary requirements for the implementation of an Integrated Report and considering the possible definition of the Generic Architecture of Integrated Value Reporting for an undergraduate engineering course. The CDIO approach supports the understanding of the system's life cycle, considering interactions, innovation, improvement, user needs and technological constraints. Agile SD aids the understanding of causal relationships that influence past and future performance. Despite the growing importance of integrated reporting for governance and management, there is a lack of studies on integrated value reporting applied to undergraduate courses. This study seeks to fill this gap by proposing an integrated value reporting model for an undergraduate engineering course at a public university in the state of Goiás. This study will use a case study to verify and analyze the feasibility of implementing an Integrated Reporting model applied to an undergraduate course. The study will be carried out in an undergraduate engineering course at a public university in the state of Goiás. Overall, this study has presented solutions, tools and processes that can improve information management practices from an Integrated Value Reporting perspective, making a broad contribution to the maturing of governance and a specific contribution to the structuring of management processes from a systemic perspective, enabling greater precision on the points of investigation for decision-making and guiding the evolution of courses, which in turn can contribute to increasing their maturity.

Through electrical energy, it is possible to operate machinery, generate heat, and transmit information. This energy is generated, transmitted, and distributed until final consumption. However, interruptions in the power supply pose obstacles, especially for producers located in the rural areas of the state of Goiás, within the concession area of the distributor EQUATORIAL-GO. These producers face losses due to spoiled stored food and the death of animals in breeding facilities. With the rise of distributed generation, consumers have been enabled to produce their own energy, thus becoming prosumer. This study conducts a case analysis on a rural property located in the municipality of Cezarina-GO, aiming to investigate the optimal solution for maintaining a consistent energy supply through alternative generation sources. Different scenarios are explored: 1) Grid Electricity + Backup Generator; 2) Grid Electricity + Off-Grid Photovoltaic System; and 3) Grid Electricity + Off-Grid Photovoltaic System + Batteries. Based on the energy demand of the location, equipment is sized for each scenario, and a financial analysis is performed using indicators such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Discounted Payback Period, and Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE). The analysis considers the main implementation and operational costs for each configuration under study. The results show that the scenario "Grid Electricity + Off-Grid Photovoltaic System + Batteries" exhibits the best feasibility among the analyzed solutions. Despite having an initial investment nine times higher than the more traditional "Grid Electricity + Backup Generator" scenario, it presents a higher negative NPV and a lower LCOE over a 30-year period. Lastly, through a sensitivity analysis, parameters related to the cost of diesel fuel (R$), electricity tariff (R$/kWh), battery bank cost (R$), and the number of power interruptions were modified. Similarly, the "Grid Electricity + Off-Grid Photovoltaic System + Batteries" scenario remained the most viable for the first three analyzed parameters, while the "Grid Electricity + Backup Generator" scenario became more viable only when the number of power interruptions was reduced.

Proposta de um sistema de gestão da efetividade de cursos de engenharia

This text presents research related to the effectiveness of engineering teaching. It was carried out in the context of the creation of a transformation office for the Graduate Course in Industrial Systems Engineering at the Federal University of Goiás (CGEP-UFG). The objective of the study was to propose an effectiveness management system (EMS) capable of measuring the degree to which an engineering course fulfills its purpose, and thus support the direction of its transformation initiatives. In order to deal with this socio-technical challenge, the method adopted followed the greater logic of action research, where the investigation effort interferes with the investigated object. The peculiar nature of the research object led to careful contextualization of the systemic approach to guide the intervention. There was a conscious effort to situate the object's life cycle as an engineered system, that is, as a system created by human beings, endowed with an objective and subject to interpretation of effectiveness. Thus, the influence of the engineering approach itself in bringing an engineering course into existence was recognized, which, when in operation, creates engineers who, in turn, contribute to engineering other systems for the benefit of society. Following this rationale, some principles of Systems Engineering and Design Science Research (DSR) were adopted in order to pursue this hierarchical ordering of considerations. The method led to the creation of an effectiveness model based on the principles advocated by the CDIO Initiative (Conceiving-Designing-Implementing-Operating), which was configured based on survey fundamentals and instrumented as part of the SGE. In this way, a means of converting subjective perceptions of 12 intangible attributes into a normalized quantitative framework was established. A scale of 0 to 100 was adopted for each effectiveness attribute that makes up the model, where 0 represents empty and 100 represents full. The implementation of the SGE at CGEP-UFG provided an illustration of the functioning of the measurement instrument, through which the value of 47 was measured for the current state of effectiveness of the course, calculated from 37 individual evaluations collected. These results should be expanded in future works in order to provide statistical interpretations with a greater degree of confidence. Its use in the real case described here evidences the materialization of a sophisticated feedback loop: the current effectiveness informs transformation decisions that affect the effectiveness in the future – ideally establishing a powerful virtuous cycle of evolution. Given its generic structure, the SGE can be integrated into any engineering course.

In an increasingly dynamic, complex and competitive market, proper maintenance strategy and maintenance actions are essential for companies to keep their processes and equipment operating safely and reliably, to meet quality requirements and lower overall costs. In this scenario, the implementation of machine condition monitoring solutions plays an important role, and this process is currently considered one of the main levers in global performance research. Inserted in this context, the present work aims to develop a low-cost prototype with the application of an ESP32 microcontroller, open-source software platforms and the concept of IoT (Internet of Things) to cover the functionality of data collection and monitoring of electrical quantities and environmental aspects of an electrical panel in continuous time. Additionally, the use of the Big Data concept for data processing is foreseen, and the construction of a model that generates alerts and provides subsidies for health prognosis, implementation of maintenance/performance indicators and failure prediction. This solution is expected to help companies implement a Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) strategy, make more assertive decisions in maintenance actions, reduce costs in corrective interventions and point out ways for asset management to be more efficient. At first, a prototype was developed with a total cost of US$ 155.99, tests and calibration of the sensors were carried out in the laboratory. Finally, the solution in an industrial environment was applied, in which the following variables were monitored: ambient temperature, relative air humidity, dew point and barometric pressure inside the panel, opening/closing status of the doors of the Motor Control Center (MCC), temperature and operating status of a circuit breaker and contactor, in addition to electrical currents and voltages of 2 motors of the primary wheat milling cylinder bank. The merit of the work can be attributed to the possibility of applying Industry 4.0 concepts to solve real problems and the high potential for scalability.

Comparativo entre a geração fotovoltaica em aplicações utilizando inversores de string e microinversores
(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2023-02-01) Ginu, Ygor Ferreira; Ribeiro, Paulo Fernando; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2049448948386214; Belchior, Fernando Nunes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5823317463324641; Belchior, Fernando Nunes; Bertholdi, Jonas; Ribeiro, Paulo Fernando; Domingos, José Luis
In terms of Brazil's Internal Energy Supply (OIE), there was a significant increase in the total available, registering an increase of 4.5% from 2020 to 2021, a value close to the GDP growth. For the Electricity Matrix there is an increase in domestic supply of 3.9% compared to 2020, but with a slight decrease in the participation of renewable energy sources, influenced mainly by the decline in supply of hydroelectric power. However, the growing use of biodiesel and wind and solar sources contributed to the Brazilian Energy Matrix reaching the renewable energy level of 44.7%, surpassing most of the other countries around the world. Solar photovoltaic generation is responsible for 5.5% of this share and has reached a gross generation volume of 16.8 TWh in 2021, representing an advance of 55.9%. Consequently, there is a race for the technological development of photovoltaic generation, especially the efficiency of solar modules and inverters. Micro inverters are gaining prominence for promoting an increase in the generation of electrical energy, by being able to reduce generation losses due to shading effects, orientation differences and mismatch losses because they can control, individually, the energy extracted from each module, however there is still a dominance of string inverter technology in residential applications. This paper aims to compare the two inverter technologies through actual yield data from monitoring the photovoltaic modules in 06 consumer units with microinverters in operation. The data is collected from the online monitoring platform and used to compose the generation if a string inverter with compatible commercial power was used, considering the conversion efficiencies for each technology. The technical and economic feasibility of the scenarios is performed by the main evaluation indexes. It was observed that the most influential factor in the analyses were the intrinsic losses of the photovoltaic systems, due to the inclinations of the modules, shading and differences in the yields of the inverters and microinverters increasing the attractiveness of the microinverter. The ID-05 plant presented the best results for the real layout, precisely because it presents a totally clipped topology, with different orientations, inclinations and suffering losses due to partial shading. The increase in the rated power of the plant has less influence than the technical losses when analyzing the financial return on investment, i.e., for cases with few losses factors the generation of the string inverters and the microinverters are similar, increasing the payback time of the investment.

In 2021, the installed power of photovoltaic solar energy in Brazil grew 70% compared to 2020. Furthermore, as it is a tropical country, the diffusion of air conditioning systems and the search for thermal comfort contribute to the increase in energy consumption. In this context, this work has the general objective of evaluating how an electrical conduction system of the Variable Refrigerant Volume type and a photovoltaic solar energy system generated some parameters that involve the quality of electrical energy in a classroom at the Federal University of Goiás. For this aim, the sizing of the AC system was evaluated. To do so, two different moments were analyzed considering data collected by an energy analyzer, the parameters are current, voltage, power and power factor of the building as a hole, the PV and AC systems. It is shown that the cooling capacity of the AC is proper, indicating the correct dimensioning of the thermal load. It was noted a reduction in the power factor, which has values below 0.92 capacitive, at times when only part of the air conditioning system was activated, indicating, at these moments, oversizing of the capacitor bank installed to compensate the energy of the condensing unit motors. Thus, it is suggested the installation of two capacitors for each phase and, through automation, they could be activated accordingly to the phase and the amount of cooling devices in operation.

Among the sources of alternative energy generation, photovoltaic solar energy has stood out among the main ones. It’s use has become increasingly common in the country, with a large increase in homes and the commercial class. And it was in 2012, based on the use of technologies such as Distributed Generation, that it was regulated so that Brazilians could generate their own energy. Based on this assumption, this study has the general objective of evaluating the impact of the cost of capital, the financial viability and the related risks of a photovoltaic system project, through an analysis of the construction of a photovoltaic power plant in a holding company managing Brazilian cosmetics companies. The proposed methodology consists of 4 phases, starting with the planning stage, where the problem to be studied is formulated and analyzed and macro information is collected. Then the study is modeled, where the variables to be analyzed and data collected will be defined, in order to carry out simulations and understand the impacts on the feasibility of the project and its risks. In the experimentation stage, all the calculations and analyzes that were carried out were structured, with the objective of, in the final stage, assisting in the decision making regarding the investment to be made. In this way, the results showed that the project is economically viable, and that the main variables that impact the NPV are the risk and market premium and the price of the energy tariff, the first being extremely important for the analysis. Finally, in the risk analysis, it was observed that the project has low risk and, therefore, the execution of the photovoltaic plant project was recommended.

Statistical tools are fundamental to reduce waste caused by non-quality in several processes, through the reduction of their variability, highlighting the statistical process control and the six sigma method, which are focused on fast monitoring. Both bring the concepts of control charts, process capability assessment and root cause analysis as drivers of optimization in various sectors, however, according to the bibliometric research carried out, there are still few studies involving such methods combined. In this sense the study brings the relevance of this theme through an application in the food industry, more specifically in the manufacturing of tomato sauces, aiming to study the variability of the formulation parameter °brix, based on the development of a customized model to the process under study that brings greater predictability to the process. To conduct the research, data from a continuous process were collected, control charts and histograms were elaborated, and the process sigma level was analyzed. Statements were also collected from the main actors in the process to evaluate the causes of variability. It was observed that initially, the process was centralized, but with variability outside the control limits, being verified a 4.15 sigma level for the process, generating 0.4% of products outside the design specifications. After the optimization proposals, the process became more centered in its limits, with a 9% reduction in the standard deviation value and a 48% reduction in the number of defects generated, verifying the variability reduction. The entire study was based on the development of a customized model for the process, considering its particularities, with a step-by-step guide on how to apply the combined methods in the organization. Finally, the research demonstrated the relevance and applicability of the SPC and six sigma methods in the scientific field, as a reference for similar studies in this area of knowledge.

This research aims to develop and apply a framework with the use of project management management in an issue related to organizational change / change within a health institution. In addition to identifying relevant authors, articles and journals on the topic studied in the literature. For this, bibliometric analysis is used to collect these data and the use of action research for the development and application of the method. The chosen institution was a university hospital in the process of transferring hospital units to a new hospital structure, a problem to be resolved is how to carry out a transfer without stopping the operation and guaranteeing the safe transfer of equipment and patients, in addition to committed employees. To carry out the transfer, it was necessary to carry out the planning, management, coordination and control of activities, in addition to the knowledge management of the parties involved. Given this scenario, the research question is the creation of a framework and its application in a hospital environment through project management options, which are traditional and agile, to observe the intervention of approaches in the results obtained in their intervention. It can be noted that in carrying out the planning, the use of agile approaches was essential, as it is unprecedented for all completed parts, the transfer of hospital units, establishing a scenario of uncertainties and instabilities, with constant need for scope changes during planning. In order to associate two distinct approaches to project management, a traditional approach starts from the final product of the planning, that is, no execution process, based on planning, but due to a worldwide pandemic caused by the new coronavirus there were several changes in the execution of the plan, however the planning helped in risk management and strengthening of communication with those affected and especially in contracting the outsourced company to carry out the transfer.

In an increasingly competitive scenario, companies that embrace sustainable practices have greater competitive advantages and contribute to society through sustainable development. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are an interesting object of study due to their peculiar behavior and the need for external assistance to implement practices of this nature. There is a vast international literature on the application of sustainable practices, but in a reduced universe when the focus is on SMEs, and especially when it comes to environmental consultancy and productivity for SMEs. Thus, the general objective of this research is to provide a sustainable integrated consulting approach to increase productivity in SMEs. Therefore, a bibliometric study was carried out to identify the main practices discussed in the literature, as well as barriers and drivers for their adoption. With the identification of these practices, an internal mapping of the SENAI Institute of Technology in Automation was carried out to diagnose the current situation and possibilities for implementing the practices used by the institution. Flowcharts were drawn, as well as an AS IS and TO BE proposal and a standardization of processes was defined for certain consulting services, detailed in three levels of implementation. Indirect gains were also highlighted. Finally, the tools were selected and defined to demonstrate their applicability in consulting methods. Among the solutions developed, the Sustainable Value Stream Map (SUS-VSM) and the General Environmental Effectiveness of Equipment (OEEE) stand out for immediate applications and the use of global indicators such as the Eco-indicator for future applications. Thus, this work has as its main contribution the demonstration of a sustainable and integrated approach to consulting for MSEs in Brazil, based on a case study.

Studies on the business death rate reveal some factors that most cause companies to fail: not delivering the right product to the market and taking too long to develop it. Several methodologies have emerged to support innovation processes and agile development of products, seeking to support teams to test, develop and launch their ideas with greater chances of success. Among them, there is the Design Sprint, a method created within Google, which this dissertation aimed to analyze the effectiveness as a tool to support innovation and entrepreneurship. For that, two action researches were carried out, applying the method in two startups and evaluating the process and its result. Then, a survey was carried out with organizations from 21 countries that adopted the Design Sprint in the creation or improvement of products, services, strategies and processes, evaluating the impacts perceived in terms of time and money savings, as well as impacts on the team, innovation, product and financial. The survey results showed that the method was beneficial for different types of organizations to have more aligned teams, better products, more agile innovation processes and reduced commercial and operational costs. The survey revealed that organizations that applied Design Sprint achieved an average time savings of 2.1 months, with a return of investment on time of more than 10.5 times. The method demonstrated the ability to support companies in different contexts and objectives, and should in fact be analyzed as a possible tool to support innovation processes and development of solutions.
