dc.description.abstractThis work, entitled Prudence of History: Rhetoric Tradition and Aporiae of Modernity, presents an investigation about the elements that rhetoric tradition and practical wisdom (phronesis) associated to it provide to the form of specific knowledge of humanities (or, as it has been called: human science ). At first (chapter 1), we will present an analysis about the process of marginalization suffered by this tradition, in the modernity, at the moment that the method of natural sciences was erected and also when there was an expropriation of traditional experience (this experience means common sense and the limits of human action). Secondly (chapter 2), we will analyze the consequences of this marginalization taking the crises between the categories of time experience as a reference point. Finally (Chapter 3), we will approach the phenomenon of the resumption of rhetoric tradition in the 20th century, aiming to show how this resumption constitutes an effort to the evasion of the phenomenon that we called (based on Koselleck and Ivan Domingues theses) as Aporiae of Modernity , that is: the neutralization of the (present) action in the practical life, which is caused by the (1) rigidities of the past and tradition, and by the (2) belief in a perfectibilist and always deferrable future.eng

dc.description.resumoEste trabalho, intitulado A Prudência da História: A Tradição da Retórica e as Aporias da Modernidade, apresenta uma investigação sobre os elementos que a tradição da retórica e da sabedoria prática (phronesis) associada a ela oferece à forma de conhecimento específico das humanidades (ou, como se convencionou denominá-las: ciências humanas ). Num primeiro momento (capítulo 1), apresentaremos uma análise sobre o processo de marginalização sofrido por esta tradição, na modernidade, no momento em que se erigiu o método das ciências naturais e em que houve uma expropriação da experiência tradicional (experiência esta caracterizada pelo senso comum e pela atenção aos limites da ação humana). Num segundo momento (capítulo 2), analisaremos os desdobramentos desta marginalização tomando como ponto de referência a crise entre as categorias da experiência do tempo. Por fim (capítulo 3), abordaremos o fenômeno da retomada da tradição da retórica no século XX, objetivando expor como tal retomada constitui um esforço à evasão do fenômeno que denominamos (a partir das teses de Koselleck e Ivan Domingues) como Aporias da Modernidade , isto é: a neutralização da ação (presente) na vida prática, que decorre do (1) engessamento do passado e da tradição e da (2) crença em um futuro perfectibilista e sempre adiável.por
