The research aims to understand the way of life of these women, how they organize themselves in community and their ancestral knowledge; the research also addressed the game of Bumba meu boi, one of the most significant cultural manifestations of Maranhão, and sought to concern the role of these women in this celebration of Maranhão popular culture.
