Through interviews with representatives of the protection holders of common bean cultivars, the decisions and motivations for structuring the seed production chain were raised, and with official MAPA data the current situation in Brazil was exposed. Seed multiplication occurs mostly through licensing contracts, in the face of much concern about the existence of illegal seed trade.
