Venous thromboembolism is a thromboembolic disorder that occurs in the venous circulation, is a disease of high prevalence and remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients undergoing major surgery, the fact that affect patients from the very young, disease free prior to the more elderly mean that it is a problem with major socioeconomic burden by as much as by absenteeism in hospital patients in productive age.
