Based on his works The Civilizational Process and The Brazilian People, we intend to verify to what extent this theory has approached a philosophy of history of a speculative nature. Considering Willian Dray’s definition of speculative philosophy, we investigate indications of teleological characteristics in Ribeiro’s reflections and its association with a Latin American utopia.
