We will start by addressing the history of Algebra amongst past civilizations. Reporting key moments for teaching and learning. Thereafter, we will address the concepts of Algebraic Education directed towards understanding how the algebraic concepts can be applied in the teaching-learning process. We analyzed the official documents that determine the education in Brazil, from the SAEB and SAEGO evaluations to the state of Goias curriculum, emphasizing the content related to Algebra. Lastly, we will present the results of the research done through an electronic questionnaire filled by the local teachers of the state education network, reporting their perceptions on Algebra teaching in public schools.
