In order to reflect on the importance of method in the formulation of geographic thinking and to demonstrate that there is no separation between the concrete conditions of the world and the ways of thinking, this work presents some questions, among which, this one: why, in the current period, did method give way to methodology? The basic assumption of reflections is to understand that critical, reflective and interrogative thinking is only possible if based on the relationship between science and philosophy, in which method is present. Likewise, a guideline will be presented: the logical dimensions of thinking have resonance, if they become effective and produce their meaning, linked to historical dimensions, because thinking is to think-of-a-world, the same world which interferes in the ways of thinking.La palabra "método", en geografía -y fuera de ella-, tiene varios significados. Con el fin de reflexionar sobre la importancia del método en la formulación del pensamiento geográfico y demostrar que no existe separación entre las condiciones concretas del mundo y las formas de pensar, este trabajo presenta algunas preguntas, entre las cuales: ¿ por qué, en el período actual, el método dio paso a la metodología? El supuesto básico de las reflexiones es entender que el pensamiento crítico, reflexivo e interrogativo solo es posible a partir de la relación entre ciencia y filosofía, en la que el método está presente.
