Although belonging to the same morphoclimatic region known as the Cerrado, such regions have distinct physical aspects due to their diverse structural-lithologic-landscape-soilsvegetation, and land-use/occupation characteristics. The above-mentioned contrasts are clearly shown in the Ribeirao Anicuns watershed within which the larger portion of the Goiania metropolitan area lies. Two areas within this watershed have been chosen for study, the south shore (subbasin of the Salinas/Cavalo Morto creek), and the north shore (Mendanha Hill).
