Action research is an approach that is installed in the tension of the investigation of problems in a community and action on them. We are concerned, therefore, understand how the meeting of these two approaches can contribute filmic learning in the context of higher education. Through the literature and film analysis of Santiago (Brazil, João Moreira Salles, 2007), we aimed to discuss the weaknesses and strengths of meeting these methodological approaches.
