Letters from Pope Hadrian I (d. 795) and Alcuin of York (d. 804) were selected for analysis. Hadrian I mentions the campaigns of Charles I (d. 814) against the Saxons in three letters, praising the conversion of the Saxons to Christianity. Alcuin, in turn, writing to various recipients, including Charles I himself, emphasizes the need for moral and religious reform to consolidate Christian rule in Saxony in his 19 analyzed letters. The selected documentation, therefore, exemplifies a potential communication network that circulated news about the conflicts between Carolingians and Saxons during that period, despite often being indirect witnesses of the events.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Guerras saxônicasCartasNotíciasSaxon warsLettersNewsA circulação de informações sobre as guerras saxônicas (772-804e.c.): o exemplo das cartas do papa Adriano I e de AlcuínoThe circulation of information on the saxon wars (772-804c.e.): the example of the letters of pope Hadrian i and AlcuinusArtigo10.5216/hr.v29i3.81013
