With theoretical support in Wierzbicka (2003) and Meibauer (2008), as well as in Keizer (2008) and Hengeveld and Mackenzie (2008), the paper initially presents a theoretical discussion on the conceptual and functional aspects of tautology, as well as on the referential or predicative nature of the post-copula proper noun, to then analyze data collected from the internet, in which the Np is Np structure is used. The results reveal that the tautological equative statements with proper noun, in the context in which they appear, constitute an argumentative strategy through which the singularity of the mental representation of a discursive entity, positively or negatively valued, is asserted.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/TautologiaDeclaração equativaNome próprioTautologyEquative statementProper nounDeclarações equativas tautológicascom nome próprioTautological equative statementswith proper nameArtigohttps://doi.org/10.18364/rc.2021n61.450
