In this bias, the present study aimed to discuss the perspectives of high school students' engagement based on the development of experimental classes with the theme addressed to environmental issues. It’s understood that the experimental activities are configured as didactic strategies that can provide the establishment of several conceptual relationships in chemistry classes and that the environmental theme is important in the sense of approximating the concepts with the ethical and social issues of the current context. This research is configured as a case study that was developed with two high school classes. The activities were recorded and transcribed for analysis. It was possible to identify characteristic elements of behavioral, emotional and cognitive engagement, which showed that these are important elements that need to be highlighted and discussed by teachers and researchers in the pedagogical context of chemistry classes.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Engajamento escolarAtividades experimentaisEnsino de químicaSchool engagementExperimental activitiesChemistry teachingAulas experimentais como estratégia para discutir questões ambientais: caminhos para o engajamento dos estudantes do ensino médioExperimental classes as a strategy to discuss environmental issues: pathways to engaging high school studentsArtigo10.53003/redequim.v7i3.3700
