Therefore, it is important to highlight that oral tradition is one of the main instruments for preserving the culture and integration of a people, as it is through it that knowledge, customs and popular beliefs are passed on and safeguarded for generations. The habit of telling narratives was essential for the creation and popularization of Brazilian legends, results of imagination and fear of the country's fauna and flora, creating a rich symbolic and identity folklore. However, with industrial development and contact with foreign cultures, oral tradition lost strength and, consequently, legends fell into disuse due to their negligible presence in social products and artifacts that accompany human progress. Therefore, there is an urgent need to reconnect society with Brazilian folklore to rescue and value cultural traditions. Because, by losing contact with these stories, a large part of Brazilian cultural origin is left behind, but also elements of molding and perception of the individual in society. To this end, the work uses research methodology, following bibliographical research to address the tales and customs of orality in more depth, through specific articles and books. In addition, data is collected in bookstores to analyze similar data, to understand how popular culture is represented today.
