Research discusses foreign influence on the main public policies of mid-western Brazil with regard to increase in agriculture and livestock production. The issue concerned is whether the region ́s needs or the interests of foreign economic interests are favored in decision taking. Results show: 1) during the 1930-1950 period, the main public policy consisted of an increase in agriculture, with the slogan ‘Towards the West’, based on US policies; 2) during the 1960-1980 period, the “Treaty on Technical Cooperation Brazil- Japan” brought forth great influence of Japan in public policies for agriculture and livestock production; and 3) during the 1990-2010 period the participation of the World Bank has been predominant in policies for the period.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/CerradoAgronegócioPolíticas agrícolasPolíticas agráriasSavannaAgribusinessAgricultural public policiesAgrarian policiesA influência estrangeira nas políticas públicas para o campo- enfoque no centro-oesteForeign influence in public policies for agribusiness, with special reference to mid-western BrazilArtigo10.17765/2176-9176.2022v27n1.e10446
