The choice of this diocese was because it has a history of fighting and involvement with social issues, with the movements for the land. The methodology draws upon interviews in the diocese of Propriá and in rural settlements of this diocese. In this context, it was found that the Church in these areas is very active, going to the society, fighting side by side for their rights.
