The objective is to present a proposal for the analysis of public policies from a geographic approach, taking as a cutout the rural development policies, adopting as methodological procedure the bibliographical research. It is understood that the geographic view allows the understanding of intentionalities and conflicts inherent in the process of elaboration and implementation of public policies, since it considers the actions of the subjects involved and their territorial effects. Moreover, a critical territorial approach recognizes the risks of instrumentalization of territory, due to its multiple dimensions, contradictions and conflicts.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/EstadoAbordagem geográficaTerritórioDesenvolvimento ruralStateGeographic approachTerritoryRural developmentPolíticas públicas, território e geografia: interpretações conceituais e práticas do desenvolvimento rural no BrasilPublic policies, territory and geography: conceptual and practical interpretations of rural development in BrazilArtigo10.21680/2177-8396.2024v36n2ID35036
