The research aims to comprehend how the emergence and use of Spanglish are linked to a resistance movement against Linguistic Imperialism and the imposition of English as the sole official language in the U.S. It demonstrates how linguistic diversity contributes to the preservation of Spanish and diverse Latin American culture. The methodology employs a descriptive and qualitative approach, incorporating extensive bibliographic research and analysis of secondary sources, including studies published between 1990 and 2022, along with primary and secondary sources from the Cervantes Institute and data from the U.S. Census Bureau. In conclusion, by associating the phenomenon with U.S. legislation, socio-economic dynamics, and bilingual education, the study draws conclusions that elucidate the identity and communicative function of Spanglish, emphasizing its symbolism in the cultural preservation of Hispanics residing in the United States.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/SpanglishImperialismo linguísticoImigração latino-americanaLatinos nos EUALinguistic imperialismlatin american immigrationlatinos in the USASpanglish: reflexões sobre a expressão linguística hispânica de resistência aos símbolos linguísticos estadunidensesSpanglish: reflections on the Hispanic linguistic expression of resistance to American linguistic symbolsArtigo10.1590/1678-460X20254127050117 - Parcerias e meios de implementação
