After presenting different variations of culture - erudite, popular and mass culture - in relation to the neochanchada, we aim to answer the epistemological question of what Brazilian popular culture becomes, based on the conception of authors of Cultural Studies, such as Martín-Barbero (2009) and Canclini (2011).
